INCrowd Interstate Interview, 8/28/08 - Mary Bibyk, maryeb

Mary was sweet enough to hunt us down and leave a nice comment about the blog. How can I resist such flattery! How can anyone resist her work?!?! I had to get her interviewed right away. Enjoy:

Where were you born & raised?
I was born and raised in Cleveland, OH.

Where are you now & what led you there?
I now live in Columbus, OH. My husband's job brought us here.

What types of creations do you sell in for your Etsy shop(s)?
I sell jewelry made with sterling silver, gemstones and some artisan lampwork beads and Swarovski crystal.

What's your educational background, as it relates to your work?
I have taken some classes and also teach myself new techniques. I attended an amazing workshop with Connie Fox, a well-known wire artist last year.

How'd you get started creating?
I've been creating something for as long as I can remember. I saw a class at a local bead shop and decided to try it. I had great fun with it and just kept learning and creating.

Do you belong to any Street Teams? If so, which ones and why? If not, why not?
I belong to Art Jewelry Collective, Etsybus, and BBEST. The teams are a great source of support, information and friendship.

What's your favorite thing about selling on Etsy?
I like how Etsy is run. I think it is an easy, friendly place to both buy and sell. The information and support available are terrific.

Recommend your five favorite shops on Etsy.
It's really hard to pick only 5 favorite shops. I like a lot of shops and will be doing quite a bit of holiday shopping here. Here are a few of the shops I like:

edooley
picklepot
jjmfinance
justjaynes
bestbeads

Show us your three favorite items from your own lovely work:
