INCrowd Interview, 8/9/08 - Rhonda, aka inalather

This week's INCrowd interview is with Rhonda from inalather. I was drawn to her shop by her yummy soaps-they look like little scoops of delectable goodness! Check it out -

Where were you born & raised?
I was born & raised in Remington, Indiana among the cornfields.

Where are you now & what led you there?
I came to Indianapolis to attend Butler University and never left. I now live here in a nice suburban area with 3 cats and an Akita.

What types of creations do you sell in your Etsy shop(s)?
My Etsy shop, inalather, now consists of cold processed soap and syndet shampoo bars, though I have a number of other related products coming soon. I love making natural, earth-friendly soaps, but also get a charge out of creating the not-so-natural type, too.

What's your educational background, as it relates to your work?
My educational background included a lot of chemistry, which is a natural carryover to formulating bath & beauty products. I've always loved the creative process in making things from scratch, whether it be food, clothing, or anything else. And I love the satisfaction of a job well done.

How'd you get started creating?
I began making soap about 10 years ago when I couldn't cook all of the herbs I had grown and needed to find another use for them. Now I have given up cooking all together and make ONLY soap!

Do you belong to any Street Teams? If so, which ones and why? If not, why not?
The INCrowd is the only team I have joined so far, but I am receptive to others when I find them. I have only been here a couple months and haven't looked for other appropriate teams for my products yet--I guess I better get busy!

What's your favorite thing about selling on Etsy?
I love the ease which Etsy provides to sellers and buyers alike. It is wonderful to have such a wide range of sellers. And the community itself is so welcoming.

Recommend your five favorite shops on Etsy.
Choosing favorite shops is a difficult task. There are so many outstanding ones in such a wide rang of categories. Today, I think I would select:

Balsam for her lovely, artistic soaps
lassothemoon for her darling stuffed animals
molecularmuse since I love geeky jewelry
BloomStudios -- she has lovely styles and superb workmanship
ajscountrycottage for outstanding, fragrant candles.

Show us your three favorite items from your own shop:

~Rosemary Mint Shampoo That Rocks

~Spice Island Sunset Granola Bar Soap

~Pink Sugar Shampoo That Rocks

Amber, thanks so much for the interview =^)

Rhonda/inalather

My pleasure Rhonda! Keep rockin' out the yummy soaps!
