Our featured shop this week is a collaboration of a mom and her two daughters, Vickie, Gayle, and Lilli of 2sistersandme. Here's what Vickie has to say about herself and her crafty girls:
Where are you from?
We are from Winchester. We have always lived here. We are about 25 miles straight east of Muncie. John and I have been married 27 years, and we have 2 daughters, Gayle 26, and Lilli 10.
What is your art form?
Hmmm, maybe a better question is what isn't my art form? When I see something I want to try, I try it. It doesn't always come out like it should but at least I try! You would know what I mean, if you could see my craft room. I would have to say my most favorite thing is to make dolls, all kind of dolls. Right now I am really into paper, though. Paper anything. I have always made papier mache snowmen.
How do your daughters play into your work?
Gayle is our giggle machine. She loves to make us laugh! Due to her disability she is unable to use her hands. However, she may do a few Santa thumb print ornaments for Etsy at Christmas time.
Lilli is really into beads. She loves to make jewelry! She also loves art. She has been taking art classes a little over a year now. She also likes to attend art classes at Ball State.
What inspires you?
My biggest inspiration was Gayle. We spent so much time in the hospital for the first 7 years of her life that I had to do something with my time. I started with cross stitch and then when we had more time at home I started sewing and wholesaling my dolls. Then I had Lilli when Gayle was 16 and the dolls were too much with her and Gayle so I slacked off for a while. Then, I decided that Winchester needed a craft show (with everything handmade) so I sponsored one every year for three years. I loved it, it was a ton of fun! Now we have found Etsy. It is far better than wholesaling ever was!
Is there anything else you'd like everyone to know?
I would only add that I love the world of creating. You meet so many nice people! I am also glad to be a member of the INCrowd!
Thanks for taking the time out to chat with us, Vickie.
Thanks Gwen for posting our little story! We appreciate it a lot!
